Provider relationships

A clear view of your options.

Financial advice can involve insurers, lenders, fund managers, and other providers. Their role—and Crestwell’s remuneration—should be understandable before you make a decision.

Our starting point

Advice should remain anchored to you.

The providers and product options we may consider vary by service, agreed scope, availability, and your situation. We do not promise access to every provider or product in the market. We explain the options that may be relevant, the basis for any recommendation, and the important trade-offs before you decide what to do.

How we are paid
01

Start with your situation

We begin with your circumstances, objectives, relevant risk, and the scope of the advice—not a pre-selected provider or product.

02

Explain the options in scope

The providers and products we may consider depend on the service, the agreed scope, availability, and the information relevant to you. We explain those boundaries clearly.

03

Make cost and conflicts visible

Before you decide whether to proceed, we explain the likely costs, how we are paid, and any relevant provider relationships or conflicts.

What this can mean in practice

The relevant options depend on the conversation.

Personal and business protection

Protection advice can involve looking at what is covered, what is not covered, the cost, the application process, service and the insurers available within the agreed scope.

Lending and mortgages

Lending advice can involve considering structure, rate, fees, policy, timing, and lender options available to us that are relevant to your circumstances.

Investments and KiwiSaver

Investment and KiwiSaver advice can involve considering objectives, risk, time horizon, liquidity, fees, tax considerations, and the provider or product options within scope.

Employee benefits

Benefits advice can involve looking at the business, its people, who can take part, the cost, the administration and the group arrangements relevant to the agreed scope.

A useful question list

Ask for the information that helps you decide.

  • Which providers or product options can be considered in this advice?
  • Are there relevant options outside that scope that I should know about?
  • How will Crestwell be paid if I choose to proceed?
  • Is there a provider payment, commission, incentive, or other conflict that could matter to my decision?
  • What are the key costs, exclusions, conditions, and trade-offs?
